Multicultural Organizations : Making Connections

End of Navigation

UCSB students are actively involved in organizations that not only focus on a special interest, major, or profession, but that also reflect the pride which students have in their ethnic and cultural heritage and experiences. The organizations listed below are important and necessary support systems. Many were created by and for UCSB's students of color; however, all organizations are open to students of any ethnicity. Information about the following organizations, or about other organizations with involvement opportunities, can be found at the Office of Student Life located in the SRB; 893-4550; www.sa.ucsb.edu/osl

Social Support/Cultural Awareness

These groups enhance friendships between new and continuing students, thereby helping them to adjust socially and academically to UCSB. They preserve, promote pride in, and expose the campus community to the performing and fine arts of various ethnic, cultural and national groups and, in doing so, uplift the spirits of students. These organizations may also work to raise the social consciousness of UCSB's students, to provide a sense of identity for students of color, and to empower students through self-determination.
