ACCESS ID/Debit Card

The ACCESS ID/Debit Card is the primary UCSB student identification card. Students are required to get their card during the first quarter in which they enroll. Students can opt to activate the card into a personal ACCESS debit account which works like a credit card in reverse; after making a deposit, purchases are automatically deducted from the balance in the account. ACCESS is accepted at the UCSB Bookstore, UCen Post Office, A.S. Notetaking, A.S. Cashiers, Parking Services, all campus dining facilities and select off-campus locations. Information regarding ACCESS ID/Debit Cards is available at the ACCESS Card Photo Center, UCen main level above the Hub, Mon-Fri, 10am-4pm; 893-7141. A free black and white student ID with limited uses is also available.

Billing Office (BARC)

BARC

UCSB operates a billing system known as Billing Accounts Receivable and Collections (BA/RC) that consolidates any debts owed to the University such as registration fees, housing fees, and library fines. Notification is sent via email to the student U-Mail account when a new billing statement is ready to be viewed and paid. The email includes a link to a secure site where the student is prompted to authenticate themselves using their UCSB NetID and Password. Fees and other charges may be paid in person, by mail, and E-Check no later than 4pm on the day of the registration deadline. E-Check is a fast and convenient way to make payments and is available via https://MyBARC.ucsb.edu. Cash or checks are accepted when payments are made in person. Payments sent by mail must be made payable to UC Regents (checks should include your full name and PERM Number). Deferrals of registration fees can be arranged with the Billing Office prior to payment deadlines. Hours: Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm, SAASB 1212, 893-3756.

Money orders, travelers' checks, and a fax service are also available. A current UCSB Student ID Card is necessary for check cashing. ACCESS Debit Card deposits are made here. As a result, financial aid students may qualify for a loan to reimburse the cost of purchasing a computer, printer, and software up to a maximum of $1,000.
