BLACK REIGN

Black Reign was founded in 1998 by two black men, Aaron Kerry and Kevin
Henry, with the purpose of preserving TRUE hip-hop dance. In 2001 the group became
co-ed and in 2003 open to other ethnicities and a chapter at CSU Northridge was
established. Over the ten years that they have been on this campus, Black Reign
has established themselves as a force to be reckoned with, winning many competitions
on campus such as the Delta Sigma Theta Jabberwock for four consecutive years. They
also perform at a number of non-competitive events such as the Sigma Chi Omega Multicultural
Show, and the Kapatirang Pilipino Showcase every year. In addition to their on-campus
feats, Black Reign has also participated in shows in Las Vegas, and are two time
winners of the USC Flygirls annual "Choreography" competition. However, their efforts
do not stop at dance alone. Black Reign has come to be a huge recruitment effort
by performing at the Black Student Union's Outreach every year, as well as getting
involved in activism by performing at the UC Students Association Student of Color
Conference and the African Black Coalition Conference. Through all of their efforts
on, and off campus, Black Reign has truly come to epitomize their slogan: "Black
Reign! We Don't Dance...We Entertain!"
