MOCK TRIAL
Mock Trial is an academic competition that centers on the idea of replicating
the court room experience, with attorneys and witnesses presenting each side of
a fictitious legal case. Attorneys will learn valuable information about court room
proceedings and evidence code that will give them a leg up in their first year of
law school. Mock Trial does accept all majors; those who choose only to play a witness
role in fact do not need to learn any of the legal information and are performing
more of a dynamic acting role. Try-outs for Mock Trial are held every fall quarter
and we attend tournaments during winter. UCSB Mock Trial is young, having only been
around since 2004, but we have a strong legacy already: almost every year so far
we have finished amongst the top teams in our region and have qualified for nationals.
No experience is necessary as our captains and coaches (attorneys in Santa Barbara)
do an amazing job of preparing the team.
