Parking Regulations & Permits
Parking Regulations & Permits UCSB parking permits are required on all vehicles
parked on campus from 7:30 am - 10 pm Monday-Sunday. Permits are not required on
administrative holidays. Valid parking permits are required at all times (24 hours/7
days per week) in areas marked
- Enforced At All Times
- Reserved
- Restricted
- Service Areas marked 24 Hours
- Restricted Service Areas
- Accessible spaces (a DMV issued placard is required)
- West Campus/Devereux Loop
- Lot 2 (B-1 Residential Lot)
- Lot 3 (North-West quadrant of the lot, closest to library)
A valid parking permit is one which a) has not expired, b) is displayed properly
(in the lower left inside corner of the front windshield) and c) is used to park
in a space designated for that specific type of permit. Short-term permits (used
for daily transient parking) may be purchased from permit dispensers located throughout
campus, or from Parking Services, located in Lot 30, on Stadium Road directly across
from Harder Stadium. Long-term permits are available online at www.tps.ucsb.edu
or from Parking Services.
Time Zones—Valid parking permits are required in all Time Zones 7:30 am-10pm,
Monday through Sunday. This includes the Time Zones in front of on-campus residence
halls. Time Zones are enforced 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Parking Meters—Parking permits are not valid in metered spaces; meter payment
is still required. ADA placard parking is available in metered spaces without meter
payment providing the vehicle displays a valid parking permit.
Permit Eligibility—Parking at UCSB is not assigned; it is provided on a
"first-come, first-served" basis. Faculty and staff may park in "A" or "S" respectively
(with the appropriate permit).
Student Permit Eligibility
Because parking is extremely limited, students living within 2 miles of campus are
not eligible to purchase parking permits. Students living outside the 2 mile limit
may purchase a "C" permit and may only park in lots designated "C". A limited number
of parking permits are also sold to on-campus residential students. Residential
parking permits and lot assignments are awarded by lottery, with no guarantee that
all requests can be accommodated.
Verification of local residential address, such as a current housing lease agreement,
is required in order to purchase an annual or quarterly student parking permit.
At the time of sale, the student will be asked to supply proof of local living address,
such as a current housing lease agreement, bill, or BARC statement. Based on confirmation
of eligibility requirements, the following permits are available to students:
- "C" Permit that allows for parking in lots/stalls designated "C".
- "B-1", "B-2", "B-3", and "B-4" that allows
for residential student parking. Available through lottery only.
